What would earning your own racquet mean to you?
What life lesson(s) have you learned on the tennis court that will help you in life off the court?
Earning my own racquet will be very meaningful because I started playing tennis not knowing anything about tennis or sports in general. I never even knew if I would become good at it or even continue in the future, but joining the McCaskey’s girls tennis team has taught me so much. I never even thought that a racquet would mean so much to me, but it does, it reminds me of all the things that I’ve learned while playing and being on the team. Being on the tennis courts has made me learn many important life lessons that will help me in the future. It has shown me that not everyone is like you, there are many types of people that might not always get along with you, but you still have to mature up and deal with it. This experience will definitely help me in the near future of becoming an adult because being in the real world you’re going to cross path with people you just don’t get along with, but you deal with it.
When playing tennis or even sports in general, most sports require you to have a consistent and well-rounded including a good grade point average in order to play a sport. If you are motivated to play a sport with dedication you will have to strive for better grades so that you are ensured that you can be eligible to play the sport that you love. Not only will tennis help develop your education, but it does help with learning multiple life skills. Being on the tennis courts has also improved my communication skill because I personally used to be kind of shy, but I have learned that I have a huge personality and my tennis team has opened me up. Playing tennis has taught me good sportsmanship and how to work well with others (communication). For example, in tennis during a doubles matches communication is key and you have to be able to communicate and work well with your teammate in order to have the best outcome. Overall, teamwork is key for communication that will support you in the future.
