2017 Hall of Fame Inductee – Lamar Jackson

Introduced to tennis at the age of 7 by his father, Robert, Lamar
Jackson honed his game under the guidance of the legendary William
Johnson in Philadelphia. As a junior player, Jackson was consistently
ranked among the top 30 in Middle States. While playing
for Central High School, he won two Philadelphia Public League
singles championships and helped his team win three Public League titles.

He enrolled at Millersville University where, from 1994-97, he
helped the Marauders qualify for the NCAA Tournament three
times, winning a regional championship in 1996. He was named
All-PSAC in 1994 and 1995. His 71 career singles wins rank third in
Millersville history and his .725 winning percentage is fourth all time.

Jackson joined the Marauders as an assistant coach and helped the
women’s program to PSAC Championships in 2001 and 2002 and
three NCAA Tournament appearances. He also coached the men’s
program to a pair of NCAA tournament berths.

Jackson continued to play tennis following graduation. He earned a
No.1 ranking in the USTA MS Section-Mixed Doubles Open Division.
In recent years, he has been a member of four Middle States
5.0 men’s championship teams and five 10.0 mixed doubles teams.
He serves as a part-time teaching professional at HARC and Bent
Creek Country Club.

He is married to Diane and has two children.

2017 Hall of Fame Inductee – Alex Mast

Alex Mast is the director of junior tennis at Bent Creek Country
Club. Mast had a stellar junior career, ranking No 1 in
Middle States in each age group from 12 to 18. During that
time, he represented Middle States on both the Junior Davis
Cup and Intersectional teams. In 2002, Mast won the Middle
States Sportsmanship Award.

In 2003, he won the National Open doubles championship.
He was ranked in the top 100 nationally in the 14-, 16– and 18
-age groups and had a No. 4 national ranking in doubles.

At Conestoga Valley High School, Mast compiled a record of
138-22. He won PIAA State AAA Singles Championships in
2004 and 2005, was a three-time Lancaster-Lebanon singles
champion, a two-time District 3 singles titlist and the 2004-
Lancaster-Lebanon doubles champion. Mast earned all-league
honors from 2002-2005 and was the school’s MVP in 2002 & 2004.

Mast played tennis at Penn State University for one year before
transferring to Duquesne University where he played No.
1. He earned Atlantic 10 first team honors. The Mast family
was named the Middle States Family of the Year in 2003 and
USTA National Family of the Year in 2004. In 2016 Mast was
inducted into the Conestoga Valley High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

2017 Hall of Fame Inductee – Lauren Witmer Westermann

Lauren Witmer Westermann was a two-time Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference Player of the Year at Millersville University.

A three-sport athlete at Lancaster Catholic High School, she
qualified for the PIAA state tennis championships her senior
year. Westermann’s tennis career blossomed at Millersville
University where she helped lead the Marauders to four
consecutive conference championships and four appearances
in the NCAA Division II National Championships. The
team’s record during her tenure was 89-14-1. She played No. 1
singles and doubles in her junior and senior years when she
was named PSAC Player of the Year. She also was Millersville
University’s Athlete of the Year each of those years.

When she graduated in 2001, Westermann had won more total
matches than any other female tennis player in Millersville history.
She still hold the record with teammate Abbey Neff for
the most doubles victories in a season (31) and most in a career
(107). Her 197 career singles and doubles victories rank
third on the school’s all –time list.

She was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in
2010. She is married to Ben Westermann and has two children.
